COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students in this program will have a 30 minute private lesson (one-on-one) per week. Students can choose one of the 2 following courses: Classical Arabic Singing & Voice lessons.
Classical Arabic Singing, in this course, students will learn:
● Classical Arabic singing techniques and methods
● Arabic music scales and maqams
● Songs from the classical Arabic repertoire including modern and golden age composers (Kathem Al Saher, Omar Al Batsh, Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Riad Al Sunbati, Zakaria Ahmed etc. )
Voice lessons, in this course, students will:
● Learn simple and advanced singing techniques
● Develop listening and aural skills
● Study basic music theory
● Expand their vocal range
● Study Arabic and Western vocal repertoire
These courses aim to create a group of students who appreciate and understand classical Arabic vocal repertoire and who would be able to join junior and advanced music groups such as the Junior Canadian Arabic Ensemble, the Canadian Arabic Orchestra and the Canadian Arabic Choir.
